Our story
A neighborhood shop that has your back
Portola Auto Services is the kind of shop drivers get recommended to by a friend, and then never leave. From our garage on San Bruno Avenue, we handle repair and maintenance for the cars, trucks, and Jeeps that keep this neighborhood moving, and we do it the old-fashioned way: listen first, diagnose carefully, and explain exactly what we found before any work begins.
Ask our customers about Ed and you'll hear the same words again and again: honest, knowledgeable, fair. We send updates by text, walk you through the replaced parts when the job is done, and if the smartest fix is one you can do yourself, we'll tell you that too. When your day depends on your car, we'll make room for it, even on short notice.
- Straight talk: every repair explained before we start
- Text updates and estimates, fast responses
- Same-day fixes when we can make room
- Advice that saves you money, even when it's DIY
What customers say
“To know a mechanic and shop with integrity, good work and one that delivers in a timely manner, those are rare and precious qualities you don't ordinarily see bunched up together. Can you tell I'm a fan?”
“The staff at Portola Auto were very friendly and helpful! They were able to fit me in to their schedule last minute, and were refreshingly clear about the work they needed to do and the risks involved, and checked in with me by text to offer alternatives and get my OK before proceeding. Excellent service!”
“They run an honest business. Ed is great. I showed up with a busted tire without any appointment. I was in a rush. Ed and his colleague dropped everything, and quickly fixed up my car in no time free of charge. Grateful for their generosity.”
